In a heartwarming gesture following San Diego FC's stunning 2-0 victory over defending MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy, star Hirving "Chucky" Lozano gifted his match-worn jersey to a lucky fan. The moment came as Lozano and his teammates celebrated their historic win with the traveling supporters at Dignity Health Sports Park. The Mexican international, who assisted Anders Dreyer’s opener, spotted a young boy and handed him his jersey, with the fan ecstatic having met the star.

Despite most of the pregame talk focusing on LA Galaxy and their 2024 MLS Cup win, San Diego stunned their hosts on the night with a 2-0 win. Even history was against them as only two of the last 12 MLS sides to make their debut won their opening game but that didn’t seem to matter. Thanks to two second-half goals from Dreyer, San Diego walked away with the win with Lozano playing his part by assisting the club's first MLS goal.
