Despite having scored the joint second most goals in the Scottish Premier League this season, Rangers side have won just one of their four opening fixtures and currently sit in seventh place – four points behind rivals Celtic and seven points adrift of league leaders Hearts.
What’s the issue?
Steven Gerrard bought in a total of 15 new arrivals to the Ibrox this summer, and whilst the former Liverpool midfielder has masterminded the Gers’ qualification for the group stage of the Europa League, it has been the worst league start since 1989 for the Scottish Premier League giants.
Whilst the arrival of Kyle Lafferty, who has found the net twice in his first two appearances back as a Rangers player, has brought life back to the Ibrox, perhaps Gerrard may be tempted to dip back into the transfer market at the turn of the year.

Morale is bound to be low in the ranks of the Rangers squad following their Old Firm defeat to Celtic earlier this month, but with winnable matches on paper against Dundee, St Johnstone and Livingston in the coming weeks, the Gers’ faithful will be hoping results begin to pick up.
But, if nothing changes for Rangers, Steven Gerrard should consider a swoop for Scottish youth international and Premier League striker Alex Jakubiak.
What’s the appeal of Alex Jakubiak?
Alex Jakubiak has been on the books at Premier League side Watford since 2010, but has only featured for the Hornets’ first team on one occasion.
The 22-year-old spent the latter stages of last season on loan at Scottish Championship side Falkirk, where the forward netted seven goals in 15 appearances, impressing in the second tier of Scottish football.
Jakubiak featured for Javi Gracia’s side throughout pre-season, but was loaned to English League One side Bristol Rovers for the remainder of the current campaign.
Steven Gerrard should be looking to hijack the Gas’ deal come January. Whilst Alex Jakubiak may not be a household name yet, the front man could provide tenacity in front of goal for Rangers, and certainly has the potential to be a future international for the Scotland senior team.
