Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe is set for a spell on the sidelines as he requires surgery on a groin injury.
The 27-year-old England international has been troubled by the problem for some time and will go under the knife after his side's crucial Champions League clash with Young Boys on Wednesday evening.
Defoe is expected to be out of action for between two and four weeks and will definitely miss England's upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Bulgaria and Switzerland.
Meanwhile, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp wants his side to go at their Swiss opponents in the second leg of their qualifying round tie, as they bid to turn around a 3-2 first-leg deficit and reach the group stages.
He commented:"We've got to swarm all over them if we can.
"I wouldn't sit here saying we've got to be patient. I think we've got to get after them. If the players play as they can play, we're going to be very difficult to beat.
"I don't think about the money. It would be a great honour to get the club into the Champions League group stages now – it would be fantastic to bring that to White Hart Lane."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
